Frene’ LaCour-Chestnut, M.D. is a dual board-certified physician in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. As “The Substitute Doc”, Dr. LaCour-Chestnut provides evidence-based, efficient, and comprehensive Pediatric and Adult medical care to hospitals and outpatient practices that need temporary physician coverage to fill in the gap due to physician retirement, sick and maternity leave, vacation, or other acute physician shortages.
Prior to settling in as a locums tenens physician, Dr. LaCour-Chestnut spent 16 years in academic medicine. She served as the Director of the Primary Care Clinic and then as the Associate Program Director for the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) MedPeds Residency Program during her 11-year tenure at BCM. She then spent 4 years developing and leading the clinical clerkship year at the newly established Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston. During her tenure at both institutions, Dr. LaCour-Chestnut actively worked as a primary care physician providing comprehensive and compassionate care to all ages and imparting that same style of care to students and residents alike.
Dr. LaCour-Chestnut is a native Houstonian who completed her undergraduate studies at Florida A&M University. As a summa cum laude graduate, she went on to complete her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 2004. She then completed combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at BCM in 2008. She has actively maintained board certification and practices in both specialties since 2008.
